The Sugarloaf Merlot subtly expresses classic Merlot characteristics. Highly complex, this Merlot surprises with understated elements that separate it from many Merlots. The spice infused fruit nature of this wine will allow it to pair with hearty stews and cassoulets along with satisfying pasta dishes. Approachable now, the Merlot will continue to improve with age over the next three to four years.

Gold Medalist: 2008 Maryland Governor’s Cup
This is our second vintage of our popular Merlot, and it boasts many layers of complexity. With its dark ruby color, the wine exhibits aromas of raspberry and white pepper along with hints of saffron, caramel and meat. Further complexity is revealed on the palate with flavors of black cherry and quince with suggestions of black olive, green tea and leather. The finish is intense with soft tannins and hints of black cherry and espresso.
